The Way We Were:

Local News: North Clarendon Farm Forum was host on the night of Nov. 21 when Radford and Yarm Forums joined with them in a social evening held in the Orange Hall, Charteris.

About 50 people were present to listen to a broadcast from Washington in which representatives of various countries discussed means of equitably disposing of surplus commodities in an effort to eradicate want through the world.

A pleasant evening of games and community singing was enjoyed with George Towell and Earl Murphy leading the “sing-song”.

Question: How many schools operate under the Pontiac Protestant board? Answer: In conjunction with the local boards, Pontiac County Protestant Central School Board operates thirty-six schools as follows: 30 one-room elementary schools; 2 two-room elemetary schools; (Stark’s Corners and Portage du Fort); 2 two-room schools teaching grades 1 to 9 (Elmside and Quyon); 1 intermediate high school (Campbell’s Bay); 1 high school (Shawville).
