The Way We Were:

Senior citizens hold annual Christmas party: The Senior Citizens Sunshine Club held their annual Christmas party on Dec. 12 in the United Church Hall with 52 present, including visitors.

The programme consisted of a duet by Miss Wendy Wickens and Miss Rhonda Meisner, instrumental numbers and readings and a musical play with Mrs. Claire Sturgeon and Mrs. Lu McDowell taking part with Mrs. Harland Rowat at the piano.

Following the programme, an exhange of gifts took place. Rev. A. Macintosh spoke briefly commending the ladies of their efforts as senior citizens. He then returned thanks and everyone sat down to a well-prepared smorgasbord dinner provided and served by the members.

Wyman Women’s Institute: The Christmas meeting of the Wyman W.I. was held at the home of Mrs. Roland Graham. Eleven members and two visitors answered the roll call. An exchange of gifts, which were judged for orginality of wrapping, was one of the activities.

Mrs. Steward and Mrs. Fulford were in charge of the program. Carols were sung and a program theme of “an old fashioned Christmas” was read consisting of the origin of four aspects of Christmas: the Christmas tree, Christmas cards, carols and carolling and mince pie and plum pudding.

A delicious tea followed served by Mrs. Graham and assisted by Mrs. Fulford.
