The Way We Were:

Quyon’s 54th fair was a fantastic success: We often hear the old cliché, “bigger and better than ever” applied to events. This year was no exaggeration in regard to Quyon Fair. Everyone who attended agreed that it was the best crowd they’ve had in the last twenty years.

The reasons, a hard-working president, Ken Bronson, secretary Gene Huckabone and staff; and excellent weather.

There was a special Clydesdale Day for the province of Quebec on Friday, and Provincial Percheron Day on Saturday.

Other attractions included the annual Quyon Calf Club Show, an excellent flower exhibit in the main hall and the Pontiac Women’s Institute exhibits upstairs.

The fair was brought to a climax Saturday night with the currently popular tractor driving competitions. A few of the competitors were local boys but several machines came over 100 miles with two or three of these motorized giants hauled on huge floats.

Pontiac artists display their work at county-wide festival in Vinton: Festival Pontiart took place as scheduled at Vinton Parish Hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday all organized by two Ottawa University students, Miss Odlie Cauchy and Mr. Gilles Rocheleau, as an Opportunities for Youth Project.
Friday night was amateur night with talent appearing from various communities followed by the Luskville Square Dance group and a coffee hour.

Saturday was devoted to a painting exhibition featuring the works of Denzil Moodie, Mrs. Lucienne Martineau, Yvon Ladouceur, Elke Wills and many others.
