Local News: At a largely attended meeting of the directors of C.P.A.S., No. 1, held Saturday, the subject of fair dates, Sept. 1,2,3, being too early, was discussed, but a change seemed unwise. The Board of Directors look for the cooperation of members and friends of the society to make 1924 fair the best on record.
Dr. R.G. Docks, Surgeon Dentist will be at Jewell House, Fort Coulonge and at Pontiac House in Shawville.
The Prince of Wales, who will sail to the United States and Canada on the Berengaria on Aug. 23, and will spend some time at his ranch in Alberta, expects to return to England about the middle of October. While on board the Berengaria, the Prince will have his breakfasts in private but otherwise he will mix freely with the other passengers.
Canada’s total gold export during Feb. 1924, worth $2,102,787, went to the United States. It is a little less than in Jan. 1924, but greater by one and a quarter millions than in Feb. 1923. This includes gold-bearing quartz, dust, nuggets and bullion obtained directly from mining operations.
