Local News: The two or three days respite from rain which this section of the country enjoyed last week and which enabled some of the farmers to finish their abundant hay harvest, was broken on Thursday afternoon by violent thunderstorms. A bolt of lightning entered the kitchen loft at the home of Mrs. A. Hodgins, set fire to a box of papers, then coming down the wall in the kitchen, upset a cabinet of crockery, making havoc of the contents. Neighbours assisted in putting out the fire before any further damage was done.

A most successful anniversary service was held at the Bristol United Church on Aug. 2. The Rev. F.W.K. Harris, a former pastor preached to a large congregation in the morning and a goodly number also greeted him at the evening service. On the following evening the usual supper and social was held and was a success in every way. The tables were loaded with the best of everything and enough left for another social.
