Davidson Mill expansion expected to create 148 new jobs in 1976: Tom Lefebvre, MP for Pontiac, announced on Friday before a gathering of reporters, that the E.B. Eddy Company was about to expand their program at their J.E. Boyle Division lumber operation at Davidson.

The expanded plant is scheduled to start operation in May 1976 with existing lumber operations carrying on as usual during the construction period.

The expansion will not only ensure the continued employment of the 130 employees currently working at the J.E. Boyle sawmill and the 150 working in the bush, but also create an additional 73 permanent jobs at the mill site. In addition, 75 new jobs will be created in the wood harvesting operations.

Soybean and alfalfa inoculant available to farmers who participate in competitions: The problem of inadequate nodulation of alfalfa and soybeans is receiving particular attention in Quebec. While the question of inoculant viability has been examined, the use of more adapted strains of Rhisobium will be studied this summer.

The Quebec Crop Production Service will be supplying to farmers a quantity of alfalfa and soybean Rhisobium, the bacteria that causes the formation of nodules on the roots of legume species.

This limited quantity of inoculant will be distributed among farmers participating in the regional alfalfa and soybean competitions.
