The Way We Were:

CLSC of Fort Coulonge opens to the public: There is a nurse and social worker at the Health Unit in Fort Coulonge with time on their hands. In a county where all information would lead one to think the services of a nurse and social worker would be in great demand, these two employees of the new CLSC are waiting for the phone to ring.

The nurse is prepared to do emergency home nursing or to make visits under a doctor’s orders to people who have returned home after hospitalization. Any doctor can use this service, in fact they are urged to do so.

As for the social worker, he is prepared to consult with any troubled person in the county of Pontiac and to help solve or refer problems.

Shawville Jersey Annual: The annual banquet of the Shawville Jersey Club was held in the Pontiac House hotel with an attendance of 98.

The new president Don Horner introduced the head table guests and welcomed those from a distance who braved the icy roads to attend.

Trophies were awarded to the 4-H’s. Production certificates were awarded to the following jersey breeders: Reinsted Farms of Quyon; Brownline Jersey Farms and Willow Hollow Farm, both of Shawville.
