Mr. C. Caldwell has commenced the erection of a building on the site of the small structure opposite the bank recently occupied as pool-room. The new building will be two storeys high, and extend back from the street a sufficient distance to make the premises large enough for a commodious business stand.
The home of the Rev. Robert Whillans, of Bryson, was the scene of a very pleasant event on Thursday evening of last week, it being the occasion on which many of his congregation and friends had assembled to present him with an address, a beautiful buggy and a set of fine harness. Mr. George Carswell, of Calumet Island, read the address and presented the buggy and harness.
Mr. A. N. Wilson, who last fall purchased a steam saw-mill from Mr. E. Lawrence, has recently removed the same to the Ragged Chute, Bristol, where he will commence cutting lumber for Messrs Thackray & Davidson. During the past winter Mr Wilson had his mill stationed at Norway Bay, where he cut about 400,000 feet of lumber for Messrs. Edward and William Graham, besides 150,000 feet for the farmers residing in that section. Before removing from the Bay Mr Wilson sold his saw and carriage to Mr. A. McCredie and has replaced the same with a similar equipment purchased from Mr. Ralph Hodgins, brick manufacturer We understand Mr McCredie will continue the lumber cutting business in the front of Bristol.
