The Way We Were:

Local News: Shawville Ladies Curling Club closed a successful season with a banquet at the Clarendon Hotel. Following the dinner, prizes were presented. The cup silver trophy with individual spoons for each player, went to the rink consisting of Mrs. Earl Judd, Mrs. Arthur Strutt, Mrs. R. Daguerre, and Mrs. Bert Stark (skip).

Mrs. Roland Graham’s cottage at Norway Bay made a pleasing setting for the regular meeting of the Wyman Women’s Institute when a goodly number of members and guests were in attendance. Mrs. MacKechnie, social convener, conducted several contests after which the hostess served tea assisted by Mrs. Fulford, all enjoying a happy afternoon together.
A number of people from Shawville visited recently in Renfrew to hear Don Messer and his Islanders.

Great improvements have been made to the interior of the restaurant in the Hayes block on Main Street. New owners are Orla Young and Allen Young.

Among the new buildings being erected are a new Pentecostal Church opposite John S. Hodgins garage which should add much to that neighbourhood which is one of the few centrally located lots not yet built upon in this town.
