MRC Pontiac warden Jane Toller was officially sworn in for her third consecutive term on Nov. 13 at the MRC office in Campbell’s Bay, surrounded by her supporters and campaign volunteers. Toller began by quoting Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV), the inscription from the Bible she was sworn in on, which she said was a gift from her grandparents 60 years ago.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
She also took the opportunity to lay out her new set of priorities for her next term, which form the loose acronym PONTIAC: modernizing Hydro-Quebec’s infrastructure in the region, increasing education options for the trades, protecting the health care system, collective transportation, sharing intermunicipal services, protecting agricultural land, and supporting local wood producers.
She also added that she would work to “keep taxes and property evaluations affordable”.
La préfète de la MRC de Pontiac, Jane Toller, a été officiellement assermentée pour son troisième mandat consécutif le 13 novembre au bureau de la MRC à Campbell’s Bay, entourée de ses partisans et des bénévoles de sa campagne. Mme Toller a commencé en citant Proverbes 3:5-6 (KJV), l’inscription de la Bible sur laquelle elle a prêté serment et qui, selon elle, était un cadeau de ses grands-parents il y a 60 ans.

Elle a également profité de l’occasion pour présenter ses nouvelles priorités pour son prochain mandat, qui forment l’acronyme non strict PONTIAC : la modernisation des infrastructures d’Hydro-Québec dans la région, l’augmentation des options de formation pour les métiers spécialisés, la protection du système de santé, le transport collectif, le partage des services intermunicipaux, la protection des terres agricoles et le soutien aux producteurs de bois locaux.
Elle a également ajouté qu’elle travaillerait à « maintenir des taxes et des évaluations foncières abordables ».
