On Saturday the Pontiac Snowmobile Drivers Association held a cookout at their warmup shack in Wyman.
President David Young said that they had been blessed with beautiful weather for a rip on the trails and hoped they would attract around 100 people to the day’s festivities.
“We’re putting on an event here today, it’s a cookout. All our members are invited to stop in, land owners are invited to stop in, have a hamburger or hotdog and chat with everyone,” he said.
The club maintains around 340 kilometres of trail from Luskville to Kazabazua and Campbell’s Bay. Young said that they had more than 800 members registered this year.
He added that the big dumps of snow this winter compared to years previous was a big help to their groomer operators.
“It’s been great, a lot of snow and everybody’s happy,” he said. “It’s a lot easier to maintain the trails.”
The group will be holding a poker run on Mar. 7, concluding at Gavans Hotel in Quyon.
Samedi, l’Association des conducteurs de motoneiges du Pontiac (PSDA) a organisé un barbecue à son chalet de réchauffement à Wyman.
Le président David Young a déclaré qu’ils avaient été gâtés par une belle météo pour une virée sur les sentiers et espérait attirer environ 100 personnes aux festivités de la journée.
« Nous organisons un événement ici aujourd’hui, c’est un barbecue. Tous nos membres sont invités à passer, les propriétaires fonciers sont invités à passer, à prendre un hamburger ou un hot-dog et à discuter avec tout le monde », a-t-il dit.

Il a ajouté que les importantes chutes de neige cet hiver, comparativement aux années précédentes, avaient été d’une grande aide pour leurs opérateurs de surfaceuses.
« Ça a été super, beaucoup de neige et tout le monde est content », a-t-il dit. « C’est beaucoup plus facile d’entretenir les sentiers. »
Le groupe organisera une randonnée poker le 7 mars, qui se terminera à l’Hôtel Gavans à Quyon.
