A Winnebago trailer in Fort-Coulonge was destroyed by fire on Friday night.
At around 11:30 p.m. the Fort-Coulonge Fire Department was called out to a property on rue Francoeur. Chief Gaetan Fortin said that when firefighters arrived, the trailer, situated on the front lawn of the house, was fully involved.
“We had to make sure we protected the house while fighting the fire itself,” he said.
Fortin said that in addition to 10 firefighters and two trucks from his department, they also called in two trucks from the Mansfield Fire Department to assist.
“It’s standard in situations like this because there’s no hydrants close to that area, so I wanted to be sure we had a lot of water to be able to protect the dwelling itself,” he said.
Fortin said that they were on site fighting the blaze for around two hours. No damage was done to the home, and no one was injured.

« Nous devions nous assurer de protéger la maison tout en combattant le feu lui-même », a-t-il affirmé.
M. Fortin a déclaré qu’en plus de 10 pompiers et de deux camions de son service, ils ont également fait appel à deux camions du service des incendies de Mansfield pour l’assister.
« C’est la procédure normale dans ce genre de situation, car il n’y a pas de bornes-fontaines à proximité dans ce secteur, alors je voulais m’assurer que nous avions beaucoup d’eau pour pouvoir protéger la résidence elle-même », a-t-il dit.
M. Fortin a déclaré qu’ils étaient sur place pour combattre l’incendie pendant environ deux heures. Aucun dommage n’a été causé à la maison, et personne n’a été blessé.
