The "Irishness" of our Ottawa Valley English "Twang," On Sunday, October 6, at 2 p.m., the Bromley Historical Society is pleased to welcome journalist, podcaster and raconteur Barry Conway. His topic will be "How the feckin' Ottawa Valley Irish Speak English". One of Renfrew County’s native sons, he will share his first-hand command of the history of the English language and how it came to shape the speech of the descendants of the original Irish who settled Renfrew County. This presentation, which is free to the public, will take place in the Old Town Hall, 498 Micksburg Road in Osceola, Ontario. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.

Parenting Workshop #1 - Emotional Regulation

This workshop on Emotional Regulation is designed to empower and resource parents so that they have the tools to support emotional regulation strategies at home. Parents will be invited to share their concerns so that strategies can be tailored to their family's needs. We will also discuss communication strategies and sensory exercises for calming the nervous system. This workshop is hosted by The Parents' Voice Shawville and features guest speaker Nathalie Gagnon, an educational consultant with years of experience helping parents and children. Childcare is available on-site for this event. Registration is required as spaces are limited.
