Community Outreach Specialist

Location: Shawville, Quebec (Hybrid Possible)
Job Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Contract (with potential for extension)
Salary: $50,000 per year ($27.50/hour @ 35 hours per week)

About the Role

The Community Outreach Specialist will be the bridge between The Equity and the Pontiac community, fostering deeper engagement with readers, businesses, and organizations. This role is focused on strengthening The Equity’s presence through direct community involvement, with the goal of increasing reader subscriptions, boosting revenue, and building long-term partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement & Partnerships: Build strong relationships with local organizations, attend events, and gather feedback to shape The Equity’s content and services.
  • Reader Outreach & Subscription Growth: Connect with the community to promote The Equity’s value as a trusted news source, encouraging both digital and print subscriptions.
  • Advertising & Business Development: Work with local businesses to develop customized advertising solutions that support their growth while sustaining The Equity.
  • Public Events & Representation: Act as The Equity’s ambassador at community events, organizing discussions and initiatives that enhance public engagement.
  • Marketing & Awareness Campaigns: Promote The Equity’s digital offerings, new initiatives, and subscription benefits through local outreach and advertising efforts.


Qualifications

  • Passion for community engagement and relationship-building.
  • Strong background in communications, outreach, marketing, or media.
  • Experience working with local businesses and organizations.
  • Comfortable using digital tools, social media, and email marketing to connect with audiences.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with the Pontiac region and its community needs is an asset.
