The construction of the new bridge at kilometre 54 of chemin Bois-Franc (Jim’s Lake Road) in the region’s non-organized territories (TNO) is now complete, according to the MRC Pontiac.
In an Aug. 17 post to social media, the MRC said the road is once again open to traffic, and temporary signage and detour measures that were in place will be removed.
The road, a main artery into the TNO, had been closed since a washout took out a culvert in late April, taking a chunk of the road with it. Instead of replacing the culvert, Quebec’s Ministry of Natural Resources determined that a bridge would be necessary. Construction began earlier this month.
The MRC said now that the road is reopened, the temporary fee exemption for users who chose to travel through ZEC St-Patrice during the construction period has now ended, and regular ZEC fees will apply.
