This past weekend, my family and I had a fantastic time as we relaxed and enjoyed several days at the Hawk’s Nest. For the past few years, my sister and brother-in-law have a rented this beautiful cottage on the Ottawa River in Castleford for a week, and we always kick off their summer vacation with a family weekend. We enjoyed fun in the water, kayaking, fishing, games, good food and drinks, and this year we even added some karaoke into the entertainment. It was a blast, and I’m so thankful to Kara and Chris for inviting us to join them.
With being at the cottage, I unfortunately missed the Quyon Lions Club’s monthly breakfast, as it was held Sunday morning at the Community Centre. I hope they had a great turn-out, as it is always a delicious breakfast. Kudos to the Lions for continuing to host these great community events through the summer months.
Speaking of the Quyon Lions Club, last week they took the opportunity to recognize two of their members for years of service. Rolly Bernier was honoured for 35 years, and Ray Johnston was honoured for 40 years. Congratulations to both Rolly and Ray. Quyon is so fortunate to have these two gentlemen, who have dedicated so much of their time and energy to the Lions and our community over the years. A big thank you to both of you.
Birthday wishes are going out to Bryce Hudson, as he celebrates on July 22, to Brenda Clarke on the 24th, and to Decklin Albert and his grandpa Wayne Ramsay, both on the 26th. Happy birthday to Grace Hamilton on the 26th, and to Ryder Côté, Curtis Young, and Josee Simard-Prest on the 27th. I will be sharing my birthday on the 28th with two of my favourite cousins, Jim Young and Stephen Rusenstrom. Wishing all the best to everyone who is celebrating special occasions this week.
On Sat., July 18, a party was held at the RA in Otter Lake in honour of Elizabeth Kluke and Paul Desjardins’ 25th wedding anniversary. Cheers to Elizabeth and Paul on this milestone anniversary, and wishing you any more happy years together.
