Local wine bottles:  Residents of Pontiac can be proud of their heritage with limited edition wine bottles with the labels representative of the municipalities on them.

Since December, the SAQ (Societé d’Alcool du Québec) has been selling wine bottles with the special. Wine lovers can purchase a bottle of wine and keep it as a souvenir.

“The bottles are a collectors item,” said Guy Racine, manager of the SAQ in Shawville.

For example, the bottles depict a scene of a central point, or a heritage building. from each municipality. The Shawville label has a picture of the town hall and the Clarendon label has a picture of the municipal hall.

The bottles contain a Merlot red wine from France and they sell for $16.85 each.

The wine bottles are selling very well. The liquor store in Shawville has sold about 20 cases of the wine. Racine said that he has had to make a second order to keep up with the demand.

“I’m quite surprised by how well they are selling,” said Racine. “I didn’t expect to sell as many as I have.”
