The village of Campbells Bay suffered a material loss at an early hour on Friday morning last, by the destruction of the flour mill by fire, which was first seen by people returning from early service in the R. C. Church. As the mill was fairly well isolated, the fire did not spread to other buildings. A bucket brigade of willing hands did all that was possible to subdue the fire, but their efforts were unavailing. A considerable quantity of grain stored in the building was destroyed. The loss is estimated at about $20,000, partly covered by insurance. As the mill was quite an asset to the village, it will likely be rebuilt.
Tractor School: Mr. G. A. Howard, local Ford Dealer, has planned to hold a “Tractor School” in Shawville, on April 20, from 1.30 to 5 p.m, the object of which is “to discuss the ways and means of making farming more profitable in this district.” Several speakers will talk on matters in which all farmers are interested. They should, therefore, avail themselves of this opportunity to hear and see some things which may be turned to advantage and profit later on. Take the afternoon off Tuesday, April 20, and come to Shawville.
