Police find student threat untrue: The Pontiac MRC Sûreté du Québec investigated an alleged threat between two students at St. Alphonsus High School in Chapeau on Friday.
On Friday afternoon, two officers from the SQ received a call from the school that one student made threats to another. The police officers did not have to close the school, but spoke to the students involved and discovered that the student who relayed the threats to another student were taken out of context and highly exaggerated.
“The situation was like the telephone-game, where one person changes the statements made by another,” said Const. Marc Ippersiel. “The words between the two parties were totally misunderstood.”
The SQ returned to the high school on Monday to confirm the threats were untrue and to send a clear message to the students and teachers of the school that the incident was a misunderstanding. The case is now closed.
“We take threats made by students very seriously and though it may turn out to be nothing there is the possibility it could be true,” said Ippersiel.
Excerpt from Caldwell social notes: Could you imagine that you couldn’t go to work, go out for a meal or even leave your house for any length of time without someone breaking into it. This is what happened recently to local residents of North Bristol when they were broken into in broad daylight. In fact, over the dinner hour. Many of these people’s hard earned or valuable personal items were stolen. Some that could never be replaced. The police have a job ahead of them because it’s about time these thieves were caught as Norway Bay has also been badly hit as well. Surely someone would have a clue and could give their suspicions to the police in Campbell’s Bay. There have been nine cottages that are known to have been broken into in Norway Bay. At our corner here there is always someone at home and we all try to watch each others homes and if we see anything suspicious we look into it and if needed report it. I guess you could call it a neighbourhood watch without it being official.
