Pontiac R. Tel. Co. Decides To Build: As per special notice given by the Sec.-Treas., a meeting of the Shareholders of the Pontiac Rural Telephone Co. was held in Hynes’ Hall on Wednesday last. Among those present were: Andrew Sly, W. T. Barber, D. T. Hodgins and about 60 others. The President, Mr. Andrew Sly, occupied the chair and explained the purpose of the meeting was to give a decisive vote on which of the two properties would be the choice of the Shareholders for a permanent home for Central Office—the west part of F. Armstrong’s building at a price of $2500.00 or a part of R. W. Hodgins’ lot on the east side of Victoria Ave., 60×90 feet at a price of $650.00. A resolution by E. J. Barber and H. T. McDowell was passed to accept R. W. Hodgins’ offer. Another resolution by W. A. Hodgins and H. B. Hodgins that Frank Armstrong’s offer be accepted. After several gave their views on the matter, pro and con, an intermission of a half hour was given that the Shareholders might view both properties and come to a decision. After intermission several more Shareholders were added to the number already named. The voting proceeded quietly and quickly. When counted the results were 16 for the purchase of part of Frank Armstrong’s building and 35 for the purchase of R. W. Hodgins’ lot and the erection of a building suitable for the Telephone Co.
