The Way We Were:

Local news: Messrs. E. Hodgins & Son have recently made a change in the post office equipment, whereby the delivery of mail matter—the volume of which during the last few years has grown to large proportions—will be much more expeditious than formerly. The time seems to be fast approaching when Shawville will be able to make substantial claims for the erection of a post office building in town.

Ploughing Match: A ploughing match under the auspices of Pontiac Ag. Soc’y No. 1, will be held in a field owned by Mr. J. L. Shaw, inside the Shawville Corporation limits, on Wednesday the 17th of October, instead of the 18th, it being Thanksgiving Day. Each of the winners of the Senior and Junior classes will be sent to Ottawa, free of charge, to compete in the final match for the championship of the Ottawa District, which will be held on J. R. Booth’s farm on 24th October.
