Local News: The Pontiac Mining Co. of Ottawa have sold their hydro property at Chats Falls to A.G. Munich, managing director of the Kingdon Mining Co. of Galetta, whose lead mines are located on Chats Island. It is said Mr. Munich has also purchased the property held for many years by Mr. Louis Simpson and that development of the power is likely to begin before long.
Quite a number of American tourists in big cars have been giving Pontiac’s hinterland a look over this year. If they are in quest of scenery of the rarest kind, their desires will certainly be gratified.
Much worthy of commendation has been accomplished in the way of road improvement in this county, but much has yet to be done before we can even think of boasting of anything approaching a good roads system. South Onslow, Quyon, Bristol, Clarendon, Shawville and Campbell’s Bay have done considerable and are continuing to progress in the direction of contributing their share towards the construction of a trunk line through the county, the “Hull-Chapeau Highway” so-called.
Since the motor car has become the almost universal method of traveling, the great need of extensive improvements on the river section of this portion of highway has been accentuated, as it is positively dangerous in its present condition.
Miss Hermonie Cobb, formerly of the academy staff is now in training at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa.
The cattle stalls in the new barn at the fair grounds are all taken by accredited registered stock. The 1925 Fair which will be Aug. 31, Sept. 1 and 2, promises to be a hummer.
