The Way We Were:

Olympiades de Pontiac at Fort Coulonge school: Two regional records were broken at the mini-olympics held in Fort Coulonge last week.

The entire event was organized and extremely well carried out by Jean Rock Bernard, who says he had 50 helpers. Officials from the Quebec Games administration in Hull were present, as was the principal and staff members of the host school, Polyvalente Sieur de Coulonge.

The top athletes were Yves Vallières of Fort Coulonge, for a second time, with 15 points, having broken two Pontiac records and helped to break the relay record as well; and Karen Kearns of Shawville, also with 15 points, having broken the local record in the 100 meter race and the regional record in the 200 meters.
CWL 20th anniversary celebrated at Quyon: The annual banquet of St. Mary’s Catholic Womens League was held Thursday evening at Fairbanks Hotel in Quyon.

This was the twentieth year of organization. There was a good attendance. Father Murray, Diocesan Director was guest speaker. Father Murray spoke on the aims and objectives of the Catholic Womens League. He stressed their motto: “For God and Canada”.
