L’\u00e9glise anglicane St. Paul de Shawville a \u00e9t\u00e9 victime d’un acte de vandalisme au cours du week-end, entra\u00eenant une fen\u00eatre de sous-sol bris\u00e9e, une cam\u00e9ra de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 manquante et des mots cryptiques grav\u00e9s sur sa porte d’entr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Derek Haddad, le concierge de l’\u00e9glise, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu’il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 perturb\u00e9 de trouver l’\u00e9glise vandalis\u00e9e lorsqu’il est arriv\u00e9 dimanche matin vers 6 h pour nettoyer avant la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de P\u00e2ques.<\/p>\n

Un luminaire ext\u00e9rieur gisait au sol, et au sous-sol de l’\u00e9glise, il a trouv\u00e9 Peter Morrison, l’un des marguilliers de l’\u00e9glise, en train de ramasser le verre d’une fen\u00eatre bris\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous avons remarqu\u00e9 qu’il y avait un objet par terre \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur qui ressemblait \u00e0 une poign\u00e9e de porte argent\u00e9e \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Haddad. \u00ab Je suppose que c’est ce qui a bris\u00e9 la fen\u00eatre. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le r\u00e9v\u00e9rend Eric Morin a expliqu\u00e9 que les dommages, qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 signal\u00e9s \u00e0 la police, comprenaient \u00e9galement une cam\u00e9ra manquante et les mots \u00ab NO FAtE \u00bb grav\u00e9s sur les portes d’entr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

\u00ab D\u00e9ception \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Morin, lorsqu’on lui a demand\u00e9 ce qu’il ressentait en voyant les d\u00e9g\u00e2ts. \u00ab P\u00e2ques est notre plus grande f\u00eate, alors que cela se produise le jour de cette f\u00eate est d\u00e9cevant \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Morin.<\/p>\n

\u00ab C’\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s choquant de voir une telle sc\u00e8ne dans notre \u00e9glise communautaire locale \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Haddad, qui travaille \u00e0 l’\u00e9glise depuis 2013. \u00ab Je n’ai jamais vu ce genre de vandalisme auparavant [ . . . ] C’\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s d\u00e9chirant pour moi. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Morin a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que l’\u00e9glise avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 subi des vols, mais rien qui incluait des dommages mat\u00e9riels.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il y a deux \u00e9t\u00e9s, nous avions un drapeau de la fiert\u00e9 accroch\u00e9 devant l’\u00e9glise et il a \u00e9t\u00e9 vol\u00e9 \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Morin. \u00ab Cela s’est produit quatre fois de plus, et la derni\u00e8re fois, ils ont pris le support sur lequel le drapeau \u00e9tait pos\u00e9. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le sergent Marc Tessier, responsable des communications de la S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec, a confirm\u00e9 que la police avait \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9e \u00e0 l’\u00e9glise vers 5 h dimanche matin et avait constat\u00e9 des dommages \u00e0 une fen\u00eatre et \u00e0 la porte d’entr\u00e9e de l’\u00e9glise.<\/p>
