La musicienne locale Erin Davis, qui joue habituellement avec son groupe de heavy metal Beyond Driven sous le nom d\u2019Erin Maiden, a lanc\u00e9 sa premi\u00e8re chanson en tant qu\u2019artiste solo, d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 son beau-p\u00e8re, Rock Soucie, qui a perdu une bataille de neuf ans contre le cancer des os en novembre.<\/p>\n

La chanson, intitul\u00e9e \u00ab Tough Being Tough \u00bb, est l\u2019une des rares chansons originales qu\u2019elle ait lanc\u00e9es, et elle est dans un style l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus m\u00e9lodique que ce \u00e0 quoi la plupart des gens sont habitu\u00e9s de sa part.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il me disait toujours : \u00ab C\u2019est difficile d\u2019\u00eatre fort \u00bb \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Davis. \u00ab Quand les choses vont mal, c\u2019est difficile d\u2019\u00eatre fort, alors prends sur toi et avance. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Soucie, qui poss\u00e9dait un magasin de musique dans le Pontiac, \u00e9tait une grande source d\u2019inspiration musicale pour Davis. Elle a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 chanter \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de cinq ans et a grandi en \u00e9coutant tous les diff\u00e9rents instruments que son beau-p\u00e8re pouvait jouer.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il m\u2019a toujours dit que si j\u2019\u00e9tais destin\u00e9e \u00e0 jouer d\u2019un instrument, je saurais juste comment jouer \u00bb, a racont\u00e9 Davis. \u00ab Je pense qu\u2019il voulait que je me tienne au chant. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Elle a dit avoir \u00e9crit la chanson en 2023, peu de temps apr\u00e8s avoir commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 jouer de la guitare pour la premi\u00e8re fois, et a pu la jouer pour son beau-p\u00e8re avant son d\u00e9c\u00e8s, quelque chose qu\u2019elle a d\u00e9crit comme tr\u00e8s \u00e9mouvant, car c\u2019\u00e9tait l\u2019une des premi\u00e8res chansons qu\u2019elle avait \u00e9crites et termin\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Quand je lui ai jou\u00e9 la chanson en 2023, il a pleur\u00e9 \u00e0 chaudes larmes. Il a ador\u00e9 \u00bb, a dit Davis. \u00ab Pour moi, \u00eatre assise l\u00e0, jouer de l\u2019instrument seule et interpr\u00e9ter la chanson seule devant lui, c\u2019\u00e9tait une sensation incroyable. Je ne suis pas nerveuse d\u2019habitude, et l\u00e0 j\u2019\u00e9tais si nerveuse, et j\u2019essayais de ne pas trop en faire. \u00bb<\/p>\n

La chanson a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e le 11 avril pour lui rendre hommage.<\/p>\n

\u00ab La plupart des gens essaient de faire quelque chose pour quelqu\u2019un apr\u00e8s son d\u00e9c\u00e8s \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Davis. \u00ab Et pour moi, c\u2019\u00e9tait la fa\u00e7on de faire, car il aimait la musique. J\u2019ai pens\u00e9 que ce serait la meilleure fa\u00e7on de lui rendre hommage, de le faire vivre \u00e0 travers la chanson et de la faire entendre \u00e0 beaucoup de gens. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Davis a racont\u00e9 que les paroles lui sont venues lors d\u2019un des s\u00e9jours de Soucie \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital.<\/p>

\u00ab J\u2019ai \u00e9crit les paroles apr\u00e8s un \u00e9pisode o\u00f9 il a \u00e9t\u00e9 hospitalis\u00e9. J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9crire et tout est sorti d\u2019un coup. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Elle a dit que le pont de la chanson est la partie qui, selon elle, pourrait le plus r\u00e9sonner chez les gens.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Les [paroles] parlent de lui et de la fa\u00e7on dont il a men\u00e9 sa bataille avec r\u00e9silience, avec beaucoup d\u2019humour et de force \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Davis. \u00ab Il y a des h\u00e9ros tout autour de nous qui illustrent ce type de comportement chaque jour et qui sont souvent n\u00e9glig\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Lancer la chanson a marqu\u00e9 un pas hors de la zone de confort de Davis.<\/p>\n

\u00ab C\u2019\u00e9tait vraiment sp\u00e9cial de passer du chant des chansons des autres au chant de ses propres chansons \u00bb, a racont\u00e9 Davis.<\/p>\n

\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 qu\u2019elle se produit habituellement dans un groupe de hard rock et de heavy metal avec son mari, Jeremy Williams, elle n\u2019\u00e9tait pas s\u00fbre de la r\u00e9action de son public face \u00e0 un changement de genre. En date du 28 avril, le vid\u00e9oclip comptait plus de 17 000 vues sur YouTube.<\/p>\n
