Les visiteurs de l\u2019\u00e9glise New Hope Christian Fellowship de Shawville se sont r\u00e9unis apr\u00e8s le service de dimanche pour une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie c\u00e9l\u00e9brant l\u2019ach\u00e8vement des r\u00e9centes r\u00e9novations de l\u2019\u00e9glise.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il n\u2019y a aucune partie de l\u2019ancien b\u00e2timent qui n\u2019ait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9nov\u00e9e ou am\u00e9lior\u00e9e d\u2019une mani\u00e8re ou d\u2019une autre \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le pasteur Stuart Marples \u00e0 THE EQUITY avant l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/p>\n

Il a indiqu\u00e9 que la discussion concernant l\u2019agrandissement de l\u2019espace et l\u2019am\u00e9lioration de l\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise a d\u00e9but\u00e9 il y a plus de 10 ans.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Avant la r\u00e9novation, nous avions une rampe ext\u00e9rieure pour acc\u00e9der au b\u00e2timent, mais une fois \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur, il n\u2019y avait pas de toilettes \u00e0 ce niveau, pas d\u2019endroit pour prendre une tasse de caf\u00e9 \u00e0 ce niveau, pas m\u00eame d\u2019endroit pour avoir une conversation priv\u00e9e \u00e0 ce niveau. Nous voulions donc vraiment rendre le b\u00e2timent accessible \u00e0 une population vieillissante \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M. Marples.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Mais nous voulions aussi le rendre accueillant et disponible pour la communaut\u00e9 dans l\u2019espoir que le b\u00e2timent serait utilis\u00e9 plus que le dimanche matin seulement. \u00bb<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u00e9glise a d\u00e9j\u00e0 accueilli un groupe de jeu hebdomadaire le vendredi pour les jeunes enfants, ainsi qu\u2019un cours communautaire sur la parentalit\u00e9. M. Marples a dit esp\u00e9rer que le nouvel espace permettra \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise d\u2019accueillir davantage d\u2019activit\u00e9s communautaires \u00e0 l\u2019avenir.<\/p>\n

Lors de l\u2019inauguration de dimanche, le maire de Shawville, Bill McCleary, a salu\u00e9 les efforts de l\u2019\u00e9glise pour d\u00e9velopper sa communaut\u00e9, f\u00e9licitant les nombreuses personnes impliqu\u00e9es dans le projet avant de souligner le travail du pasteur Stuart Marples.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Chapeau \u00e0 Stuart. Il a attir\u00e9 de grandes foules et, de nos jours, peu de gens s\u2019int\u00e9ressent \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise, et il a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper cela. F\u00e9licitations \u00bb, a-t-il dit.<\/p>\n

Trois priorit\u00e9s directrices<\/strong><\/p>\n

M. Marples a expliqu\u00e9 qu\u2019avant de s\u2019engager dans tout projet de r\u00e9novation, l\u2019\u00e9glise a convenu de trois crit\u00e8res que le projet devrait satisfaire : rendre le b\u00e2timent plus accessible, r\u00e9aliser le projet sans dettes et faire don d\u2019au moins l\u2019\u00e9quivalent de 10 % de ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pens\u00e9 pour l\u2019\u00e9glise \u00e0 des projets missionnaires.<\/p>

Il y a un an et demi, l\u2019entrepreneur de Bryson, Justin Presley, a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 une proposition de r\u00e9novations qui satisfaisait au premier crit\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Quant au deuxi\u00e8me crit\u00e8re, une bonne partie du financement n\u00e9cessaire provenait du produit de la vente de l\u2019\u00e9glise wesleyenne de la rue James \u00e0 Shawville en 2014. Le district du Centre du Canada de l\u2019\u00c9glise wesleyenne a conserv\u00e9 les fonds avec la promesse de les r\u00e9investir dans New Hope une fois qu\u2019un plan pour l\u2019argent serait \u00e9tabli.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous avons r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que nous n\u2019aurions pas besoin d\u2019une campagne de financement agressive, alors nous l\u2019avons simplement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 notre congr\u00e9gation, aux anciens participants, aux amis de notre congr\u00e9gation, aux membres de la famille qui ont grandi ici et qui ont d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 depuis, et nous leur avons demand\u00e9 s\u2019ils voulaient faire un don ou une promesse de don \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M. Marples.<\/p>\n

Les fonds d\u00e9tenus par le district du Centre du Canada de l\u2019\u00c9glise wesleyenne, combin\u00e9s \u00e0 125 000 $ en dons communautaires, ont permis \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise de r\u00e9aliser cette r\u00e9novation et cet agrandissement, dont le co\u00fbt s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 un peu moins de 600 000 $, y compris les engagements missionnaires, sans aucune dette.<\/p>\n

Pour satisfaire son troisi\u00e8me crit\u00e8re, l\u2019\u00e9glise a engag\u00e9 un total de 54 000 $ pour des missions outre-mer et nationales, incluant un engagement de financement de quatre ans pour une \u00e9cole primaire au Nicaragua, le creusement d\u2019un puits et la fourniture d\u2019un soutien en mati\u00e8re d\u2019assainissement et de formation \u00e0 l\u2019hygi\u00e8ne dans le nord du Ghana, et le soutien \u00e0 la croissance de l\u2019\u00c9glise wesleyenne dans l\u2019Ouest canadien. L\u2019\u00e9glise travaille \u00e9galement actuellement sur un projet avec l\u2019\u00c9glise wesleyenne standard d\u2019\u00c9gypte. En f\u00e9vrier prochain, un ou deux membres de l\u2019\u00e9glise se rendront en \u00c9gypte en tant que membres d\u2019une \u00e9quipe missionnaire plus large.<\/p>\n
