Le Service d’incendie de Bristol a tenu son bal annuel des pompiers au Centre communautaire Jack Graham, samedi soir. Fid\u00e8le \u00e0 la tradition de la brigade de ne pas s’\u00e9terniser sur les formalit\u00e9s, la soir\u00e9e a presque \u00e9t\u00e9 exempte de pr\u00e9sentations ou de discours et s’apparentait davantage \u00e0 une f\u00eate communautaire et dansante, offrant aux participants l’occasion de se parer de leurs plus beaux atours et de passer un bon moment.<\/p>\n

D\u00e8s l\u2019instant o\u00f9 Ken Bernard, membre de la brigade, a lanc\u00e9 les festivit\u00e9s par un bref mot de bienvenue soulignant les activit\u00e9s pr\u00e9vues pour la soir\u00e9e, le groupe local Uni-Son a anim\u00e9 l’ambiance avec son interpr\u00e9tation d’un vaste \u00e9ventail de morceaux, allant de Boney M. et Elvis Presley \u00e0 Gloria Gaynor et C\u00e9line Dion. Les membres du groupe, Lianne Groulx et Chantal Proulx, assuraient les voix et \u00e9taient accompagn\u00e9es de Denis St-Jean \u00e0 la basse, de Raymond Lemaire au clavier et de Peter Beaudoin \u00e0 la batterie. Ensemble, ils ont fait sortir les convives de leurs chaises et les ont entra\u00een\u00e9s sur la piste de danse pour ce qui a sembl\u00e9 \u00eatre deux s\u00e9ries de joie sans fin.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 l’exception d’une seule pause dans les festivit\u00e9s, au cours de laquelle le chef Kevin Kluke et le maire de Bristol, Brent Orr, ont rendu un hommage discret aux nombreuses ann\u00e9es de service des pompiers Robert Walls, Bob Cowley et Denis Findlay, la soir\u00e9e a \u00e9t\u00e9 enti\u00e8rement consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 la camaraderie.<\/p>\n

Tout au long de la soir\u00e9e, la cantine \u00e9tait bien g\u00e9r\u00e9e et fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e, l’encan silencieux a vu un flux constant d’offres prometteuses et, pour certains, r\u00e9ussies, les prix de pr\u00e9sence ont \u00e9t\u00e9 bien accueillis et, gr\u00e2ce aux provisions des pompiers eux-m\u00eames, le souper tardif \u2013 servi vers 23 h \u2013 a \u00e9t\u00e9 un succ\u00e8s \u00e0 tous les niveaux.<\/p>\n

Ce fut un effort d’\u00e9quipe g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9, et ces b\u00e9n\u00e9voles ont exprim\u00e9 leur gratitude pour le r\u00f4le qu’ils jouent, tandis que les personnes pr\u00e9sentes les applaissaient pour leur service et leur d\u00e9vouement. <\/p>\n
