Une douzaine de r\u00e9sidents ont form\u00e9 un comit\u00e9 qui s\u2019emploiera \u00e0 explorer des options pour sauver le Caf\u00e9 Downtown de Fort-Coulonge apr\u00e8s qu\u2019il ait \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en vente \u00e0 la fin de l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re. <\/p>\n

Le comit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9 lors d\u2019une r\u00e9union communautaire organis\u00e9e par un groupe de r\u00e9sidents le 23 mars, afin de sonder l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat pour l\u2019initiative.  <\/p>\n

Le Caf\u00e9 Downtown a \u00e9t\u00e9 ouvert par l\u2019homme d\u2019affaires de Fort-Coulonge R\u00e9mi Bertrand en 2021, mais l\u2019entreprise a chang\u00e9 de mains l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante lorsque Bertrand a transf\u00e9r\u00e9 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 au chef Alexandre Romain. En d\u00e9cembre 2025, le Caf\u00e9 Downtown a annonc\u00e9, via une publication sur les m\u00e9dias sociaux, que l\u2019entreprise \u00e9tait \u00e0 vendre, et il est rest\u00e9 ferm\u00e9 depuis. <\/p>\n

Pour Madeleine Valli\u00e8res, membre de la communaut\u00e9, la fermeture \u00e9tait une occasion d\u2019essayer de relancer l\u2019entreprise. Elle \u00e9tait l\u2019une des h\u00f4tes de la r\u00e9union de lundi dernier.  <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009D\u2019apr\u00e8s ce que nous savons sur la base des \u00e9tats financiers, l\u2019entreprise se porte tr\u00e8s bien. C\u2019est une entreprise rentable, et c\u2019est pourquoi nous avons pens\u00e9 qu\u2019il y avait un r\u00e9el besoin dans la communaut\u00e9 et que les gens veulent ce caf\u00e9\u2009\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Mme Valli\u00e8res. <\/p>\n

Elle a indiqu\u00e9 que la vingtaine de participants s\u2019est entendue pour dire que le caf\u00e9 est un important lieu de rassemblement communautaire. Au fil des ans, il a accueilli des spectacles musicaux, des \u00e9v\u00e9nements po\u00e9tiques, des soir\u00e9es th\u00e9matiques et d\u2019autres \u00e9v\u00e9nements. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009Nous avons constat\u00e9 que c\u2019\u00e9tait aussi un endroit o\u00f9 la nourriture \u00e9tait un peu diff\u00e9rente de ce que l\u2019on peut trouver ailleurs. Au niveau du tourisme, nous sommes conscients que c\u2019est un endroit important pour le d\u00e9veloppement touristique \u00e9galement\u2009\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Mme Valli\u00e8res lors d\u2019une entrevue en fran\u00e7ais.<\/p>\n

Silvia Smith est membre du comit\u00e9. Originaire de Muskoka, elle a dit avoir de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience avec les coop\u00e9ratives alimentaires ainsi qu\u2019une exp\u00e9rience en gestion de caf\u00e9. Elle a ajout\u00e9 que l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019une coop\u00e9rative pourrait aider \u00e0 soutenir divers producteurs locaux.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009J\u2019ai appris qu\u2019il y a d\u2019excellents cuisiniers et boulangers dans cette communaut\u00e9\u2026 il y a peut-\u00eatre une occasion de les mettre en valeur, ainsi que d\u2019autres producteurs alimentaires locaux\u2009\u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9 dans un message. \u00ab\u2009La nourriture s\u2019harmonise bien avec d\u2019autres occasions de connecter la communaut\u00e9 et d\u2019attirer le tourisme \u00e9galement.\u2009\u00bb <\/p>\n

Mme Valli\u00e8res a indiqu\u00e9 que le groupe a l\u2019intention d\u2019explorer la formation d\u2019une coop\u00e9rative. Des repr\u00e9sentants de la Coop\u00e9rative de d\u00e9veloppement r\u00e9gional Outaouais-Laurentides (CDROL) \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents \u00e0 la r\u00e9union pour offrir des conseils au groupe sur la marche \u00e0 suivre. <\/p>

Elle a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 qu\u2019il y a eu une s\u00e9ance d\u2019information suivie d\u2019une s\u00e9ance de remue-m\u00e9ninges pour voir \u00e0 quoi pourrait ressembler le caf\u00e9 si le groupe le relan\u00e7ait. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009Ces personnes nous accompagnent en tant que conseillers pour nous aider \u00e0 choisir et \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer le type d\u2019entreprise que ce sera \u2014 sera-t-il un organisme sans but lucratif\u2009? Sera-t-il une coop\u00e9rative\u2009?\u2009\u00bb <\/p>\n

Elle a dit qu\u2019\u00e0 la fin de la r\u00e9union, les participants int\u00e9ress\u00e9s ont form\u00e9 un comit\u00e9 qui continuera \u00e0 se rencontrer. Elle a ajout\u00e9 qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019avenir, le groupe explorera les formes de financement qu\u2019il pourrait utiliser. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009Nous pourrions avoir un partenaire qui d\u00e9ciderait d\u2019acheter le b\u00e2timent et de nous le louer par la suite. \u00c0 ce moment-l\u00e0, l\u2019entreprise ach\u00e8terait l\u2019\u00e9quipement pour le caf\u00e9 et nous nous y installerions\u2009\u00bb, a-t-elle ajout\u00e9 \u00e0 titre d\u2019exemples. \u00ab\u2009Nous pourrions \u00e9galement nous renseigner sur diff\u00e9rentes formes de subventions ou de pr\u00eats.\u2009\u00bb <\/p>\n

Mme Valli\u00e8res a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 qu\u2019environ 12 personnes ont propos\u00e9 leur nom pour faire partie du comit\u00e9. Le comit\u00e9 continuera de se r\u00e9unir dans les semaines \u00e0 venir. <\/p>\n

Bertrand, qui est toujours propri\u00e9taire du b\u00e2timent, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu\u2019il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 lib\u00e9r\u00e9 le 31 janvier et qu\u2019il est maintenant \u00e0 vendre au prix demand\u00e9 de 150\u2009000\u2009$.  <\/p>\n
