La r\u00e9sidente de Bristol Deb Powell est la derni\u00e8re r\u00e9sidente de cette municipalit\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre honor\u00e9e pour son b\u00e9n\u00e9volat, recevant la M\u00e9daille du Lieutenant-gouverneur pour l\u2019excellence de son service b\u00e9n\u00e9vole. <\/p>\n

Mme<\/sup> Powell a fait du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat aupr\u00e8s de diff\u00e9rentes organisations depuis son d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement \u00e0 Bristol il y a environ 15 ans. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sidente du Conseil d\u2019alphab\u00e9tisation de l\u2019Outaouais, est la pr\u00e9sidente active des Amis des Chutes Chats et a fait du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat \u00e0 divers titres pour Ski Pontiac, Protection de l\u2019environnement Pontiac, Sentinelle Outaouais et l\u2019Association communautaire de Bristol.<\/p>\n

Mme<\/sup> Powell s\u2019est dite surprise d\u2019apprendre qu\u2019elle avait remport\u00e9 le prix, ajoutant qu\u2019il existe de nombreux b\u00e9n\u00e9voles d\u00e9vou\u00e9s qui auraient \u00e9t\u00e9 tout aussi qualifi\u00e9s. <\/p>\n

\u00ab Je me sens vraiment indigne, car je pense qu\u2019il y a des gens qui le m\u00e9ritent beaucoup plus \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Des centaines de prix sont d\u00e9cern\u00e9s chaque ann\u00e9e au Canada, avec des crit\u00e8res diff\u00e9rents selon la province. Au Qu\u00e9bec, le prix r\u00e9compense un service b\u00e9n\u00e9vole exceptionnel.<\/p>\n

Selon le site Web de la Lieutenante-gouverneure du Qu\u00e9bec, la m\u00e9daille reconna\u00eet \u00ab l\u2019implication b\u00e9n\u00e9vole, la d\u00e9termination et le d\u00e9vouement de citoyens du Qu\u00e9bec qui font ou ont fait une diff\u00e9rence au sein de leur communaut\u00e9 \u00bb .<\/p>\n

Mme<\/sup> Powell rejoint Peter Haughton, Nora Findlay et Val Henderson parmi les r\u00e9sidents de Bristol \u00e0 avoir re\u00e7u cet honneur ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. <\/p>\n

La mairesse de Bristol, Valerie Twolan-Graham, s\u2019est rendue sur les m\u00e9dias sociaux le 4 mai pour annoncer le prix, ajoutant que Mme<\/sup> Powell et d\u2019autres b\u00e9n\u00e9voles \u00ab enrichissent la vie des autres dans notre communaut\u00e9 \u00bb .<\/p>\n

Mme<\/sup> Powell, une \u00e9cologiste autoproclam\u00e9e, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que les causes li\u00e9es \u00e0 la nature lui tiennent particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 c\u0153ur. Elle est une membre active de la communaut\u00e9 ornithologique du Pontiac, organisant chaque ann\u00e9e le d\u00e9nombrement des oiseaux de Shawville-Quyon. Elle est \u00e9galement une d\u00e9fenseuse de la conservation de la tortue mouchet\u00e9e. <\/p>
